WebNov 16, 2015 · My solution is to only use 2 lane roads (2 way) and highway ramps since if they're only going to use 1 lane, only give them 1. The other thing which helps a lot is to avoid chokepoints - that is give cims lots of options to get to other parts of the city and avoid funneling them onto main roads.

WebJun 6, 2024 · If a vehicle wants to go to the place on the right side of the left branching two lane road, it will enter the intersection in the second lane from the left on the six lane road, because this puts it in the correct lane after the intersection. This isn't the only way to do it, but it's a simple one. In real life, if everybody on the highway obeyed the speed limits and rules of the road, then that is what you would indeed see - cars travelling mostly in the one lane that they need.

The car then follows this path and will not deviate from it. So cars will not switch lanes to pass or use an open lane. This was a core design choice done to save a lot of CPU time.
